Sammons Renewable Energy Purchases 163 MW Midway Wind from Apex Clean Energy

Transaction Demonstrates Strength of Texas Gulf Coast Wind

Charlottesville, VA – January 10, 2018 – Apex Clean Energy today announced the sale of Midway Wind to Sammons Renewable Energy (SRE). The 162.9 MW project is located along the Texas Gulf Coast in San Patricio County. Apex will provide construction and asset management services for the project.

“Midway Wind yet again shows the promise and value of wind energy on the Gulf Coast of Texas. Our Gulf Coast projects were integral to establishing Apex’s long-term strategy and advancing a robust and diverse portfolio,” said Mark Goodwin, president and chief executive officer of Apex. “We are pleased to partner with Sammons Renewable Energy to bring Midway Wind to life, and we applaud SRE’s commitment to advancing clean energy across North America.”

“We are pleased to continue our expansion of the SRE renewable energy portfolio. We have now acquired over 600 MW of wind, solar, and hydroelectric projects on behalf of SRE. Apex, a leading wind developer and operator, represents the type of partner we look to continue working and investing with,” said Kevin Lapidus, chief investment officer of Franklin Park. Franklin Park will manage the Midway project on behalf of Sammons Renewable Energy.

Midway Wind will comprise 47 Siemens Gamesa 3.465 MW wind turbines. The project is expected to begin commercial operations in the fourth quarter of 2018.
