Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority and Apex Clean Energy Announce 41.4 MW Power Purchase Agreement

Edmond, OK – December 8, 2015 – Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for wind generation from Apex Clean Energy subsidiary Grant Plains Wind, LLC. Grant Plains Wind will produce about 150 MW of electricity, enough to help power approximately 56,000 homes. Grant Plains Wind is expected to come online in 2016.

“The addition of this 41.4 MW of wind-generated power allows OMPA to continue to grow our renewable energy portfolio for our 42 member cities across Oklahoma. The Apex Clean Energy power purchase agreement gives OMPA the opportunity to increase our wind power portfolio from 100.2 MW to 141.6 MW in 2020 for our approximately 800 MW system. We are very pleased to be part of this Oklahoma project by Apex,” said David Osburn, general manager of OMPA.

“We are pleased to be doing business with OMPA once again to bring clean, low-cost Oklahoma wind energy to customers throughout the state,” said Mark Goodwin, president of Apex. “Through this transaction, OMPA will be saving its customers money, while supporting important economic development in rural northeastern Oklahoma. Just like its neighboring Grant Wind project to the east, Grant Plains Wind will create hundreds of new construction jobs, foster a new round of economic activity in Grant County, and generate millions in property taxes for the county and local school districts.”
