Apex Wind Energy Completes 300 MW Canadian Hills Wind Facility

Charlottesville, VA – January 21, 2013 – Apex Wind Energy, Inc. (“Apex”) has announced the completion of the development and construction of the approximately 300 MW Canadian Hills Wind project (the “Project”). The Project, which is located just outside of Oklahoma City, OK, began commercial operation on December 22, 2012. Canadian Hills is the largest single-phase wind farm to be developed and constructed in Oklahoma, increasing the state’s installed wind capacity by 13%. Apex maintains a minority ownership interest in the Project.

“Apex is thrilled to see Canadian Hills Wind producing clean energy for the region,” explained Mark Goodwin, President of Apex. “As the developer and construction manager for the Project, Apex has demonstrated that we have the expertise to design, develop and build a successful facility on time and on budget in difficult market conditions. This experience will carry us forward in our effort to complete our growing national portfolio of projects.”

Prior to construction, Apex secured long-term power purchase agreements for 100% of the Project’s capacity with three electric utilities in the region. The Project will generate enough electricity to meet the needs of approximately 100,000 homes.

During construction, the Project employed nearly 300 people while up to 20 permanent jobs have been directly created to manage the Project’s long-term operations. Over its life, the Project will inject over $100 million dollars to the local and state economy in the form of annual payments to landowners and annual tax revenue that will benefit six school districts in the area.
