Apex Closes Second Portfolio Selldown with EGCO Group
339 MW of Operating Wind and Solar Joins Expanding Partnership
Charlottesville, VA – September 28, 2026 – Apex Clean Energy today announced the closing of a strategic portfolio selldown to Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO Group), a leading energy company with a substantial portfolio of investments across the United States. This is the second capital recycling transaction between the two companies, following a 251 MW wind and solar selldown that closed in October 2025. The portfolio comprises the 189 MW Timbermill Wind in North Carolina and the 150 MW Coldwater Solar in Michigan. Apex retains a 51% ownership stake and will continue managing operations of the facilities, with EGCO Group acquiring a 49% stake.
“Our second portfolio with the EGCO Group builds on a partnership that has already proven itself,” said Ken Young, CEO of Apex. “Timbermill and Coldwater are high-performing assets delivering for their host communities, and this transaction lets us put that value to work on what we’re building next, at a moment when the country needs new generation faster than it’s being built.”
Both facilities are operating under long-term power purchase agreements: Timbermill with a corporate offtaker, Coldwater with a utility. Timbermill Wind, which reached commercial operations in 2024, is North Carolina’s second wind farm and the largest taxpayer in Chowan County, where it is expected to generate roughly $33 million in tax revenue over its lifetime. Coldwater Solar began operating in 2025 and will deliver close to $30 million in new local revenue to Branch County and the townships of Coldwater and Ovid.
This is the third transaction under Apex’s capital recycling program, which has now brought partners into more than 900 MW of completed wind and solar. Proceeds are reinvested across the company’s construction and development portfolio, funding the next generation of Apex projects.
