Apex Clean Energy Signs 200 MW Renewable Energy Purchase Agreement with Westar Energy

Charlottesville, VA – November 6, 2013 – Apex Clean Energy has signed a Renewable Energy Purchase Agreement (REPA) with Westar Energy for 200 MW of wind energy from Apex’s Kay Wind project. The 300 MW Kay Wind project, expected to begin construction in 2015, will produce enough electricity to power over 102,000 U.S. homes.

“We are very pleased to be working with Westar, and we look forward to a strong long-term relationship moving forward,” said Mark Goodwin, president of Apex. “The Kay project will bring clean energy, at a great value, to Westar and its customers.”

The construction of the Kay project is expected to bring about $90 million to the Kansas economy.
