Apex Receives Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Award

May 10, 2017 – On Tuesday, May 9, the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council (SPLC) recognized Apex Clean Energy with the Business Case Award for its case study “Providing Energy Security to Fort Hood.” The award, presented at SPLC’s annual summit in Denver, salutes Apex’s achievements in bringing cost savings, energy security, and clean power to the largest military installation in the world.

The hybrid wind and solar facility began officially operating on April 27 and will provide more than 50 percent of the power used by U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. The project will save the Department of Defense—and taxpayers—an estimated $168 million in direct energy costs over nearly three decades.
